Hitachi Travelstar Z5K500 2.5-inch Ultra-thin HDD

Hitachi has unveiled its new 5,400RPM Travelstar Z5K500, which is claimed as the world’s thinnest hard disk drive for netbooks and tablets. Measuring at only 7mm thick, the drive features 1.8 Watts read/write power and 0.55 Watts low power idle. The Hitachi Travelstar Z5K500 also delivers a nearly silent operation at 1.9dB idle/ 2.1dB seek. The storage device has an 8MB cache, a Serial ATA 3Gb per second interface and physical sector size of 4,096 bytes (up to 512 bytes). Available in 500GB, 320GB and 250GB of storage capacities, the Hitachi Travelstar Z5K500 will be released to selected distributors later this month. [PCLaunches]
